I have been working with Python and Django for almost 6 years now, and during that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects across different domains. One notable project I’ve and currently working on is a real estate project where I play a major role as the “acting CTO” and lead backend engineer. As the acting CTO and lead backend engineer, I was solely involved in building the architecture of the software, implementing advanced authentication systems from single-signon, to user (used Djangorest simple jwt authentication backend) and device authentication (built my own authentication backend so as to improve security by secrecy). To keep this short, I made the system to function on a trust mechanism I built. That is, more permission is given to devices and users with a higher trust percentage. I also implemented algorithms that are able to detect malicious activities in the system in accordance to system requirements, each malicious activity has a consequence assigned to it. The system is built on an asynchronous gateway interface so with this, I was able to leverage the use of Django channels in collaboration with multi threading to reduce the load on the main thread so as to facilitate faster API response thereby improving user experience to about 73%. I also implemented features that enables user to browse available properties, make reservations and communicate with property owners using end-to-end encryption techniques I developed using Python. Property search works on different algorithms and some of these algorithms uses machine learning (I’m still a novice in ML but good thing I’m a fast learner). Noticed some flaws in djangorest simple jwt which I medicated in the system (still to present it to the DR simplejwt team). I was able to do all of these as the only backend engineer, we currently have other backend engineers and we are currently working on a multilevel marketing algorithm using Python and other implementations (I can’t fully disclose now). Also, as the initial founder of the company, I have had the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and also had the privilege to understand the roles and I’ve equally been able to know what employers go through.

I’ve also work extensively as the lead backend developer for Sultan Bridge Technologies (Belgium). Here, the architecture was already in place before I came thereby giving me room to focus on the development of APIs and managing the database. This project was a prototype to see how users will react to it since it was a local community project. The application had 3 main features: plastic recycling, social media and job search. I was responsible in building the backend (using Python, Django, Djangorest framework, websockets etc) and collaborating with 3 frontend developers. Implemented plastic recycling feature: users can register the total amount of plastics they’ve collected (during registration of the plastics, a unique QRcode is generated), upon submission of these plastics at their various centres, the number of plastics is confirmed and after confirmation the QRcode is scanned by an agent which then initiates automatic payment to the users wallet. The user can then withdraw this money using Mobile Money (a local payment method).

I equally implemented the social media feature whereby users can chat and get paid whenever they meet physically. The where algorithms I put in place that would detect fraud and determine if they actually met physically using Bluetooth technology and other fallback algorithms I implemented should in case a user’s Bluetooth isn’t working. Implemented job search feature.

I have also worked on a content creation site as a backend developer, FinTech, car rentals etc.

Throughout these experiences, I’ve gained proficiency in various technologies and tools within the Python and Django ecosystem, including Django ORM, Django Rest Framework, API integration and testing tools.
