I’ve developed various software during my career in software development which improved my approach to problem solving, and displayed my ability to overcome challenges in the software field.

Nigtrak:

During my previous role, and my teammates were tasked with the creation of a new product. The CTO instructed us to carry out the development of a software which is capable of displaying the real-time location of Users around the globe, by retrieving their location from the walkie talkie assigned to each of them, and keep an inventory of the resources assigned to them.

My team and I embarked on this project with me responsible for the development of the web interface, server API, and the database structure, while my teammate was responsible for the development of the mobile application which would be installed on the walkie talkie inorder to communicate the User’s location to the web interface.

I leveraged React Js, Redux and Typescript in the creation of the web app interface, MQTT and Websockets for enabling a two way communication between each walkie talkie and the web-interface, thereby, allowing the application retrieve the real-time location, and status of each user. I also integrated the Google map 3rd party API into the web interface to display the location of each user on the map.

After the creation of the web interface, I began setting up the database environment using Microsoft SQL, and the development of server APIs to retrieve, create, edit, and delete user data, and user devices/resources from the database using Node Js and Express Js. Afterward, I enabled communication with the server APIs in the web app interface.

I and my teammates launched the first MVP of the application, which was capable of retrieving the location of each device via the mobile app installed on them.

Online Auction:

Utilized Next Js which allows for better SEO in the development of an online auctioning web app. Implemented a CI/CD workflow that deploys the app container to the Google Cloud Run serverless platform. Made the web app a progressive web app that can not only be installed on a user’s device, but also supports caching of client-side resources, e.g. pages, images, etc, web-notifications (when a user gets outbid), and offline support.

GO.Charity (Monitoring dashboard):

I used ‘prom-client’ and ‘swagger-stats’ to expose the metrics of an authentication microservice I created earlier, e.g. CPU utilization, HTTP response duration, total HTTP requests per second, etc, and set up Prometheus and Grafana to scrape and visualize said metrics at regular time intervals. Afterward, I deployed the servers to Docker containers and enabled continuous deployment on the web services.
